Narcissism, Inverted Narcissism, And Masochism

Narcissistic Personality Disorder and Sadism

Narcissistic Personality Disorder and Sadism

People with NPD (Narcissistic Personality Disorder) suffer from two kinds of illusion: self-grandiosity (“I deserve to have the best because I am the best.”) and omnipotence (“I can do whatever I want because I am incapable of nothing.”) Narcissists have many ways of manifesting these two illusions, one of which is sadism. Narcissists love to hurt two kinds of people: those who refuse to give them narcissistic supply (i.e. attention) and ironically, those who love to give them narcissistic supply, which sums up to “everyone”. The first one is an obvious punishment to those who

ignore their self-acclaimed power while the latter is a higher level of displaying their “power”. It satisfies them to hurt someone who loves them. And when after hurting these people who love them, these lovers still cling on the narcissist, it’s a feast of satisfaction. These victims are the sufferers of DPD (Dependent Personality Disorder) or the Inverted Narcissists.

Dependent Personality Disorder and Masochism

Movie celebrities continue making movies because, for one thing, movie fans keep on watching their movies, giving them more “power” to make even more movies. The same principle applies to narcissism. The reason why there are narcissists is because there are sources of narcissistic supply. These are the inverted narcissists. Strangely, inverted narcissists are attracted only by narcissists. Inverted narcissists

depend on the kind of “love” or “attention” given by narcissists to the point that they are willing to be hurt by them. Inverted narcissists are a firm believer that these narcissists truly possess some kind of power and so, they are willing to be under these so-called powerful narcissists. They blindly depend on this power and love to be the object of the narcissist’s sadism.

The Switch

Needless to say, the narcissist and the inverted narcissist are a perfect combination. It is wonderful that these people usually have troubles building long-lasting relationships with others (family, friend, colleagues, workmates, neighbors) but together, they make a perfect couple. This is because they know when to exert power and when to submit. And at times, the switch transpires. The narcissist becomes the inverted narcissist and vice versa. This makes the both of them sadomasochists.

NPD, DPD, sadism, and masochism are all kinds of disorders and perversions, which can be cured. If you think you are suffering from it, consult your doctor. The longer it is ignored, the harder it will be cured.
