The relationship between food scarcity and growing population is debatable. The fast population growth does not make the food scarce. People are hungry because they cannot afford food. Food may be scarce but it is international trade. Therefore, economic policies and the control of land have lead to immense poverty and hunger with less access to food. It is over population that directly caused food scarcity. Nonetheless, hunger is definitely a great threat to the population. With the situation slowly getting worse and out of control, it will yield to other greater societal problems. When the population does not get
enough food supply, the population has no strength to conduct their work for livelihood and the whole economy.World hunger is considered as one of the most serious global concern in today’s society. There are people in the world who experience extreme hunger. By analyzing some underlying causes of world hunger, I came to realize that this social problem is inevitable, especially due to the factors that worsen it. I also found out that the problem proved to be
too difficult to resolve. Some of the causes of hunger can be categorized into historical, cultural, political, and economic factors. Each factor plays a significant role on the onset and worsening of the global issue. The causes encompass the different aspects of the society that worsen world hunger.
There are a number of altruistic attitudes towards world hunger in attempt to resolve world hunger. However, effective and long-term solution and alleviation of world hunger heavily relies on the alleviation of poverty that is deeply rooted in the society and lifestyle of the people. World hunger is a simple manifestation of the country or the world’s poverty or poor economy. If all efforts are focused on providing food as well as improving food production and distribution, these actions may be ineffective in the sense that the structural root causes that create hunger, poverty, and dependency would still remain. Thus, it is of vital importance to resolve the world hunger problem by dealing with its roots.
